Job Description

Brunel is currently searching for a Controller for direct hire with our mining client located in Kern County, California . Approximately 20 minutes outside of LA County.

Reporting to the Mine Finance Manager, as Controller you will have 3 direct reports on the Finance team consisting of Accountants and Coordinator. This role collaborates with the Finance Manager and corporate team to drive financial performance and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and ensure accurate reporting.
• Manage financial controls, audits, and compliance.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Lead the mine site finance team and month-end close.
• Analyze financial performance and drive process improvements.
• Support ERP implementation and other financial projects.
• This role is hands on.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
• 7-10+ years of finance/accounting experience, with strong preference in the mining industry.
• Need a take charge leader who can hit the ground running.
• Strong IFRS, US GAAP, and financial reporting knowledge.
• Excellent analytical, communication, with strong leadership skills.
• Must have strong MS Office skills and financial systems applications, expert in Excel.
• MUST be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.

Offer:

Full-time, direct hire with salary range $130-140K plus 15% bonus. Position includes bonus, 5% 401K match, full-benefits and potential relocation package. This role will be required to work on-site at the mine and is generally a compressed work week of four 10-hour days. Flexible for more hours during month-end, quarterly and year-end close.
