Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Housing and Workforce Solutions - Community Action Partnership Department seeks a creative and motivated individual to join their team as an entry-level Graphic Arts Illustrator Intern.

As the Graphic Arts Illustrator Intern you will have the opportunity to work closely with Community Action Partnership's Media Production Specialist to create compelling and visual content across various platforms. This internship will be an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a professional environment.

The in-person internship is based in Riverside County and offers a flexible work week consisting of approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility granted around academic obligations. The selected candidate can anticipate the internship to span six months to one year in length.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; Through participation, receives supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation, and performs other related duties as required.

The intern will be responsible for, but not limited to:
  • Developing graphic design and multimedia that influences the community in a positive way.
  • Assisting in the creation and design of digital and print materials, including but not limited to social media graphics, advertisements, brochures, presentations, and website assets for a County department
  • Collaborating to brainstorm and develop innovative design concepts and solutions
  • Supporting the production process from concept to final deliverables, ensuring designs are visually appealing, on-brand, and meet project requirements
  • Working closely with team members to gather feedback and revise designs as needed
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends, design techniques, and best practices to continually improve skills and remain innovative


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average : 2.5 GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .

Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor's degree program, preparing to transfer to a Bachelor's program, or in a certificate program, during the entire duration of the internship. Recent college graduates who graduated within the last 12 months may also apply.

Areas of Study : Graphic Design, Arts or Humanities, Visual Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Information Technology, Computer Science, Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies or similar.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software tools
  • Basic understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate concepts into visually appealing designs
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members
  • Interest in learning new skills and technologies
Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bilingual is preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and design
  • Knowledge of best practices in digital marketing and communications
