What You'll Do:
Manage patient checkouts, review charges, and collect balances due.
Schedule patient appointments for future visits.
Enter charges for over-the-counter supplies.
Post insurance and patient payments in the practice management system.
Perform end-of-day balancing.
Answer phone inquiries from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
Prepare patient charts for the next day's appointments.
Verify patient insurance benefits prior to visits.
Request/verify PCP referrals and testing authorizations as needed.
Process medical record requests from physicians and insurance companies.
Upload medical records and patient information to electronic charts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
High School Diploma.
2-3 years of billing experience in ophthalmology preferred.
CPC or CPB certification required.
Ability to work full-time, on-site (this is not a remote position).
Knowledge of medical insurance and experience with patient management systems (AdvancedMD a plus).
Familiarity with basic medical coding and third-party payer procedures.
Proficiency in email, Microsoft Office, and online applications.
Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with others.
Ability to operate a computer, software, and standard office equipment.
Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
