About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager to oversee operations at our manufacturing facility in Poughkeepsie, NY. This role is a leadership position requiring a high-level professional with a strong background in plant management, industry standards, and operational excellence. The Plant Manager will be responsible for leading a team of six direct managers, overseeing 150-160 employees, and driving efficiency through the implementation of standardized processes (SOPs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and coach a team of 6 managers and provide guidance for 150-160 employees, ensuring that all managers are held to industry standards and aligned with company objectives.
  • Process Development & Optimization: Establish and enforce plant-wide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure smooth, consistent, and efficient operations. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and maintain product quality.
  • Operations Oversight: Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality control, inventory management, and maintenance. Ensure all departments are performing to industry standards and KPI expectations.
  • Staff Development: Coach and develop management team to improve their leadership skills and operational performance. Establish a strong team culture that emphasizes accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management: Work closely with senior leadership to manage operational budgets, optimize resource allocation, and ensure the plant operates within financial goals.
  • Machine & Equipment Expertise: Maintain a solid understanding of plant machinery, particularly related to plastic manufacturing processes. Ensure equipment is operating at peak efficiency and assist in troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Quality & Inventory Control: Directly report to Operations and Inventory Management, ensuring accurate inventory management and maintaining high-quality standards in production.
  • KPI Management: Develop and track key performance indicators to monitor operational success, drive performance, and continuously improve plant output.
  • Building & Scaling: Contribute to the long-term growth and scaling of the plant by improving infrastructure, systems, and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in plant management
  • Prior experience managing large teams (150-160 employees) and directing multiple departments is a must.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and coaching a management team, with a focus on developing talent, building a high-performance culture, and executing company vision.
  • Industry Expertise: Strong background in packaging manufacturing and/or plastics production. Solid understanding of plant machinery, operations, and quality control processes.
  • Process-Oriented: Ability to develop, implement, and enforce effective SOPs across the plant, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • KPIs & Metrics: Experience in setting and achieving operational KPIs to drive plant performance and success.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using technology to improve plant operations and efficiency.
  • Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
