Overview

Highway Intelligent Traffic Solutions, LLC, founded in Texas in 2007, has always been on the cutting edge of technology and is an industry leader in electrical contracting. Highway ITS is currently seeking a Safety Manager for projects in Texas. The Safety Manager position will report directly to the President of Highway ITS and will collaborate with the Helix Traffic Solutions Executive Vice President of Safety and Risk in developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of a continuous improvement safety culture for each HITS location.

Essential Functions

• Leads and improves the HITS safety initiatives by providing comprehensive training, safety awareness, administrative oversight, and timely incident reporting.
• Ensures that all company personnel are trained in safety specific functions, including electrical safety, lifting, and rigging.
• Maintains training records and documentation.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
• Conducts facility and project audits to evaluate and improve overall safety performance and risk reduction.
• Assists in obtaining information on all claims (Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto, etc.) in accordance with established company and insurance carrier guidelines.
• Conducts or arranges safety training as identified.
• Maintains OSHA recordkeeping and other administrative requirements related to safety operations for all locations.
• Administration/procurement of the Samsara GPS based vehicle program.
• Implementation and administration of a substance abuse testing program.
• Administration of contractor pre-qualification systems (Avetta, ISN, Browz, etc.).
• Fosters and builds professional relationships with customers, service providers, regulators.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred.
• Supervisory and leadership skills.
• Excellent organization skills, time management, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work around schedules and needs of the business.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office- Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.

Required/ Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Valid state issued driver’s license subjected to MVR evaluation.
• A minimum of two (2) years of direct EHS experience; five (5) or more years preferred.
• General understanding of OSHA regulations and compliance.
• Professional certifications a plus (OSHA 500, CHST/CSHO, ACSP, FA/CPR Trainer).
• Working experience with insurance claims (data collection, reporting, claim reviews).

Primary Work Location:

The Highway ITS headquarters in Cedar Hill, TX.
